For The Love podcast
I’ve recently discovered Jen Hatmaker and read (aka listened to through audible) a couple of her books. Well she has a new podcast, and is 2 episodes in, and I love it! I particularly enjoyed the first episode, talking about friendships with girlfriends. Give it a listen!
I had a fun impromptu happy hour this week with one of my best friends, and it made me so happy! I love catching up one on one, and I’m so thankful to have great friends in my life.
I’m currently reading this book and loving it! It took me a little while to get into it since the first chapter is a lot of bouncing around, but I’m hooked now!
I know, so random. When I was first learning about intuitive eating last year, I was encouraged to re-introduce “fear foods” into my home. Fear foods are the ones you may have told yourself you can’t have in the house because you’ll go crazy with them and eat too much. A main principle of intuitive eating is that you’re allowed to eat ANYTHING, and that foods aren’t good or bad, they’re just foods. So the idea is to allow yourself to eat these foods whenever you want, and actually plate them and sit down and savor/enjoy them, with the knowledge that you can go back for more immediately if you want, or tomorrow if you want. Incorporating foods this way eliminates the “all or nothing” mentality when you think you should go crazy on a food because this is the last time you’re going to allow yourself to eat it. My “fear foods” included rice crispy treats, cheese (duh), and cookies. I’ve gotten to the point with all of these where I can have them in the house without feeling out of control. I eat them when I want, and it’s not a big deal.
However, I’m still finding new “fear foods” that I forgot about. I had the thought the other day about buying nutella, and in my mind I was like “No, I don’t buy nutella for the house.” What?! So obviously I brought some home and have been enjoying it all week. I made nutella/banana crepes over the weekend, and grab a quick spoonful straight out of the jar when I want something sweet. 🙂

One more food related favorite, these macarons! I tried a new recipe this week and brought them to work to share. I have a few tweaks to make to the frosting, but I might share the recipe on the blog when I’m happy with it!
